South-East Asia is becoming an increasingly important market for German architects. So it’s good news that they have the support of GEZE as a competent, high-performing partner for products, systems, and services for door, window and safety technology. GEZE advises and supports architects on site to turn their projects into success stories, using a well-conceived and flexible range of products that satisfies the most varied requirements for doors, windows, and façades in every building. Backed of course by the comprehensive, customised services you’d expect. GEZE has been operating in South-East Asia for a long time via their subsidiary in Singapore. Within East Asia, they will soon be opening another subsidiary in South Korea.
Commonalities make the difference
There’s plenty more could be said about the different faces of these cities that are home to millions. Evidence of progress, modernity, and wealth stands in contrast to traditional values and the rural regions that lie adjacent to these megacities.
South-East Asia is one of the most varied regions within Asia. Different cultures, societies, and religions come together among the 600 million inhabitants. What unites them is not just the fact that people are chilled out even in the face of the most frantic city life. They succeed in turning the difference into something they have in common and – albeit heterogeneously – they grow together.
On a growth course …
Most countries in this region are characterised by robust economic growth and an emerging middle class. An increasing number of investors have discovered this “New Asia” with its many island states. Construction and infrastructure projects are driving the demand for architecture services and building product that are “made in Germany”. German exports to South-East Asia have increased once again over the previous year across practically all sectors – including the construction sector.
… at different speeds
Levels of prosperity range from the highly-developed and wealthy Singapore and rapidly developing emerging economies such as Malaysia, Indonesia, and Thailand to “frontier markets” such as Vietnam. With Jakarta experiencing a boom, Indonesia is near the top of the list of countries in which to invest. Many foreign companies are investing in industrial buildings, urbanisation programmes are driving the construction of housing and healthcare facilities and governments are increasingly investing in transport infrastructure.
Building technology for comfort and security in every building
The scope of construction products and architecture-related services needed is huge due to the differing levels of development – with metropolises and rural structures sitting alongside each other.
For “liveable”buildings with barrier-free comfort and security of doors and windows in
- hotels, office blocks, shopping malls
- hospitals, schools, residential buildings
- transport infrastructure projects, including airports, railway stations
we can offer ready-to-use solutions – always with exceptional design. This starts with entry models from our series products, country-specific variants up to project-specific, customised system solutions with smart networking.
Hotel building gathers pace
Hotel construction is a sector with particularly rapid expansion as South-East Asia is a booming tourist destination. Indonesia is right at the top in current studies carried out by the consultancy company Lodging Econometrics. Currently, almost 400 hotel projects are under construction, 100 of which are in the capital, Jakarta, alone. Malaysia and Thailand currently have around 140 hotel construction projects each. The majority of these are in the capitals: around 60 projects are in Kuala Lumpur, and over 50 are in Bangkok.

Project experience: Best Practice for architects
Our specialist skills and expertise, including in other trades, ensure we are flexible: products and services are adapted to specific requests and local conditions. For this to succeed, we bring together everyone involved on a project into a high-performance network and take on responsibility for tasks that make work easier for architects and construction managers whilst saving time.
We start early with the services you would expect and work closely with architects. This begins with detailed analysis of the project aims and the user’s requirements regarding doors and windows, allowing the GEZE project consultant to work out ideal solutions.
We support architects with
- Developing ideas, planning, and selecting the product
- Working out all feasible solutions
- Technical building issues
- Construction laws, national standards and guidelines, specific local construction regulations
- Architects benefit from our expertise to best ensure the desired door function.
- Specification of all doors in a building, depending on door type
- Standardised documents for optimal project coordination
- Lists of doors with the right hardware components
- Hardware schedule with an overview of all door technology on the project
Everything from a single source
GEZE is a one-stop shop, adapted to local sales structures in South-East Asia. We deliver hardware packages with a comprehensive range of door fitting parts for doors directly to door manufacturers or the installation company.
GEZE in Singapore and the whole region
Our subsidiary is right at the heart of the region in Singapore, providing architects, customers, and partners with a network of project consultants who cover the whole of South-East Asia between them. This is an advantage for German architects who regularly handle projects in Malaysia, Indonesia, or Thailand from Singapore.
Coming soon in South Korea
GEZE also has a subsidiary in China. The opening of another subsidiary in South Korea (near the capital Seoul) is planned for this year, to provide even better support to architects in Eastern Asia.
