South-East Asia is one of the most varied regions within Asia. Different cultures, societies, and religions come together among the 600 million inhabitants. On a growth course …
Most countries in this region are characterised by robust economic growth and an emerging middle class. An increasing number of investors have discovered this “New Asia” with its many island states. Levels of prosperity range from the highly-developed and wealthy Singapore and rapidly developing emerging economies such as Malaysia, Indonesia, and Thailand to “frontier markets” such as Vietnam. With Jakarta experiencing a boom, Indonesia is near the top of the list of countries in which to invest. Hotel building gathers pace
Hotel construction is a sector with particularly rapid expansion as South-East Asia is a booming tourist destination. Indonesia is right at the top in current studies carried out by the consultancy company Lodging Econometrics. Currently, almost 400 hotel projects are under construction, 100 of which are in the capital, Jakarta, alone. Malaysia and Thailand currently have around 140 hotel construction projects each. The majority of these are in the capitals: around 60 projects are in Kuala Lumpur, and over 50 are in Bangkok.
