“Excellence in Architecture” – GERMAN PAVILION successful for the 14th time in Cannes
“Better places. Greater impact. Stronger business.”, the world’s largest real estate fair MIPIMMIPIM Marché International des Professionnels de l’Immobilier opened its doors again in Cannes, France, from March 14th to 17th, 2023. Different every year and yet always familiar, it represents the largest gathering of leading players in the real estate industry and representatives of cities. Countries, cities and regions, institutional investors, project developers, end users, hotel groups, authorities, real estate associations, technological start-up and banks. On the part of the service providers, architects, engineers, specialist planners as well as consultants, lawyers, insurance companies and development banks related to the international construction and real estate industry are represented. Ideas and projects are presented to the specialist audience and important business contacts are made. The can traditionally be described as the most important trend barometer in the industry.
According to the official MIPIM press release, 23,000 delegates representing 90 countries gathered in Cannes for MIPIM, the international real estate event that brings political leaders and the real estate community together to find solutions to the challenges facing the built environment. With the largest delegation since the pandemic, the industry embraced the need to overcome difficulties and deliver positive change for people, communities and the planet. Led by higher attendances from the France, UKVK Vereinigtes Königreich, Germany, Italy delegations and Poland, the 32nd edition of MIPIM saw a 15% increase in visitors and exhibitors compared with 2022. European delegates at MIPIM 2023 were joined by representatives from Japan, Canada, the USA, Brazil, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Egypt, amongst others, making MIPIM a truly global event. Cities and countries showcased pioneering new opportunities to improve urban planning and advance greater sustainability and prosperity.
The conference program focused on Environmental Social Governance (ESG), innovation and technology solutions to accelerate the architecture and construction industry’s transformation towards a more sustainable model. The MIPIM opening keynote was held by Prof. Jeremy Rifkin, American economist and social scientist, activist and publicist with more than 20 bestsellers. In his keynote “A vision for a sustainable future with the real estate industry at the helm”, Prof. Rifkin addressed the importance of innovation in transforming the built environment towards a sustainable model. His inspirational speech was a “call to action” urging the real estate industry to join the next internet-based industrial revolution and move away from fossil fuels.
For the 14th time this year, German architects, engineers and specialist planners as well as property-related experts were able to successfully present their services and projects at the GERMAN PAVILION under the motto: “Excellence in Architecture”. The German pavilion – made possible by the Network Architecture Exchange NAX of the Federal Chamber of German Architects and financed by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWKBMWK Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Klimaschutz) – once again offered its 25 exhibitors the right setting for presentations and networking. The GERMAN PAVILION also showed the importance of MIPIM as a network and contact exchange, because the stand was a very well-attended meeting place throughout the entire trade fair period and was able to continue to establish itself as a constant at MIPIM.
For their own company presentations – and as a “showcase” of architecture and construction-related services “Made in Germany” – the exhibitors used architectural models and screens, which drew visitors to and into the stand and ensured quick contacts.

This year we again had a “VIP” at our stand in the form of the Berlin Senate Building Director in the Department for Urban Development, Building and Housing, Prof. Petra Kahlfeldt. Prof. Petra Kahlfeldt was very interested in the many projects on display and that led to interesting Conversations with the exhibitors.
