Working in Germany

The “Bundesarchitektenkammer e.V.” (BAK – Federal Chamber of German Architects) is the governing body of the 16 Federal State Chambers of Architects in Germany. It represents the interests of about 134.000 architects in politics and the public on a national and international level.

Today, more than 131,000 architects in Germany are active as freelancers, employees, public servants or they are engaged in the building and construction business (i.e. they operate, for instance, a construction business under their own responsibility).

Since the opening of the EU domestic market, foreign investors and companies are looking to do business in Germany. Also, foreign clients are interested in finding out on which system German architects’ and engineers’ fees are base.

The Network for Architecture Exchange NAX and the Federal Chamber of German Architects have developed a brochure on the topic “Architecture, Engeneering, Construction. Made in Germany” in cooperation with Central Federation of the German Construction Industry and the German Association of the Consulting Engineers.
